The JV ladies have just finished warmups and drills. They knew at this point they faced their greatest challenge of the season. Dara is the toughest opponent on our schedule. Posted by Picasa

Great picture of the Grace JV all focused on the ball. We won the game by one point and with that win remain undefeated.  Posted by Picasa

Monday, February 20 both the varsity and junior varsity girls played the Thai school -Dara. Dara is one of the largest Thai schools in Chiang Mai with an enrollment of 7000 students. It is a private Christian school. This is a picture of both JV teams.  Posted by Picasa

Just had to show another shot of the tin man. He and others had such a good time with the characters.  Posted by Picasa

The tin man, scarecrow and the cowardly lion are giving out prizes for those who knew the answers to the trivia contest. And, do you know Dorothy's last name?  Posted by Picasa

Though a bit blury around the edges, I love the expressions on each of these faces. It reflects the joy of the evening.  Posted by Picasa

This photo gives you an idea of how big a project this was...The screen is hanging from the second floor railing of the elementary building. I believe everyone in the neighborhood to at least hear the movie ..and those living across the street certainly could view it from their front porches.  Posted by Picasa

This is my most photogenic family - Angela and Gabe Wolthuis. Angela is my SIL support services supervisor. Precocious Gabe is loved and shared by every teacher in the neighborhood.  Posted by Picasa

Teachers and staff from Grace. Forefront is Jeanette, our admin secretary. To the left is Elaine, math teacher; and to the right is Nicole, 6th grade teacher. Jeanette is from Alaska. Elaine is from Scotland and Nicole was born in Wisconsin and now claims Ohio as her homebase. Thought I should mention that this picture is taken in February. Pleasant weather - 70 degrees, clear skies! Great movie night! Posted by Picasa

The family movie night was a senior class fundraiser. Eric is perfect as the tin man and he made the most of the part!  Posted by Picasa

A happening that was truly magical ~ a warm clear evening of 70 degrees ~ the Grace elementary campus became Kansas for one night. Families came together for food and the timeless classic ~ Wizard of Oz. Posted by Picasa

Grace International School - Varsity Girls Team - Coach Steve Milburn  Posted by Picasa

The varsity girls finished the tournament with 2 wins and 2 losses. Both losses were to the Thai girl's team. The first game was won by 1 point (two free throws at the end of the game!) The second game Grace was behind by 15 and came from behind to tie the game in the 4th quarter. We lost by 3 but felt good about our comeback. I look forward to seeing their progress in the next game! Posted by Picasa

Coach Steve is challenging the girls to pick up their intensity. This picture shows the team in their 1st game on Saturday after a grueling game the night before.  Posted by Picasa

Here is a splendid picture showing the old riverfront homes surrounded by the new highrise buildings. The height of the riverfront homes dictates the importance of the homeowner.  Posted by Picasa

This is the entrance to Raffles - the most famous and historic hotel in Singapore. It is a delightful reminder of the past with an elegant, dignified character throughout the entire building. Posted by Picasa

This is a great view of the city skyline and the beautiful landscaping seen throughout Singapore. It is an immaculate island! Did you know it is illegal to chew chewing gum here?  Posted by Picasa

I usually look for libraries on trips. However, we were pleasantly surprised to come upon a Wesley Methodist Church. It is currently being renovated and has a membership of over 4,000 people.  Posted by Picasa

Here I am playing Scrabble on the veranda of Raffles Hotel. Playing Scrabble in unusual places is a habit of mine over the years.  Posted by Picasa

This building originally was the Post Office for Singapore. It's grandeur was turned into the now luxurious Fullerton Hotel. I had an Irish Bailey Cream Coffee for a mere $15 which translates into $12 US. It's all in the appearance! Great coffee and ostentatious surroundings!  Posted by Picasa

This is Clark's Quay, a well known shopping area along the Singapore River. Fort Canning is directly behind on the hill - where one of the founders - Thomas Stamford Raffles resided.  Posted by Picasa

Chinese New Year - The Year of the Dog - obviously this is not a dog but the Ox. The dog is on the other side of this very colorful display of the animals of the Chinese calendar. It was so crowded that I thought the Ox would do. You get the idea!  Posted by Picasa

We visited Singapore during our Chinese New Year. This picture shows retail buildings in 'Llittle India.' The area is known for its retail in gold jewelry and silk garments. The retail stores are located on the lower level and the homes are located above the store. A very colorful area in both decor and people! Note the name on the yellow building - "Prince of Wales.' Posted by Picasa
